Realise “Ree” Mwase is a Zimbabwean poet, performer, writer, and editor based in Cyprus. Since 2016, his work has been shaped by the unfiltered young adult experience in the diaspora— the kind of writing that comes from lived experience rather than technique alone.
He has taken the stage at TEDx CIU (2018 & 2022), and his writing has appeared in Youth Shades, Khuluma Afrika, Bulawayo 24 News, and Nehanda Radio. His second book, African Pride, currently sits in the Hiram College Library as part of “Essential Reading” for students. Ree is also a spoken word artist and co-founder of Poets On An Island (POAI), a spoken word collective that has produced and headlined multiple live spoken word shows in Cyprus since its inception in 2020.
Ree has ghostwritten 3 books for clients across diverse fields such as filmmaking, philanthropy and Christian living. He has also coached over 10 speakers as a TEDx Speaker Trainer to help them deliver memorable talks. Furthermore, his passion for writing has seen him mentor young writers and musicians in the art of storytelling over the years. The hat of an editor is another one he wears, as he has edited 4 books by different authors from all over the world in the last 6 years.
When he’s not writing or performing, Ree is reading comic books, watching NBA games, studying philosophy, and conducting culinary experiments in his apartment kitchen.

Reecollections is the creative home of Realise. whose work moves between page and stage. Every piece Ree creates — spoken, written, or performed — comes from the same place: an unfiltered look at what it means to carry two worlds at once.

Beyond his own work, Ree helps others find and shape their voice — through ghostwriting, editing, and coaching built on the same craft he brings to his own stage.

Want to work with Ree directly, or bring him in to speak? Here’s where to start:
